Shoplifter hit by bus after theft

A Skegness shoplifter who ran away when he set off security alarms in a store, was knocked down by a bus as he tried to make his getaway.

Joseph Anthony Finney, 40, of Barnes Crescent Timberland 6 inch boots womens, Skegness admitted stealing a pair of Timberland boots valued at £99 from Allison’s in Lumley Road on October 14 when he appeared at Skegness Magistrates’ Court last week.

He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge imposed on June 19, also for shoplifting and for a public order offence.

Prosecuting, Edward Johnson said that at 2pm Finney went into the store and hid the boots under his jacket and left the store, setting off the security alarm. He was chased by staff members and he was finally arrested timberland custom boots, saying that he intended to sell them.

In mitigation, Asad Aziz said that as Finney was running away, he inexplicably put down the boots and his jacket Timberland 6 inch boots sale, which had identification in it, and ran off. He then collided with a bus and ended up in hospital, he said Timberland Custom Boots.

Mr Aziz told the magistrates that Finney suffered from a personality disorder and schizophrenia and his medication was not working properly.

The magistrates adjourned the case until December 4 for a pre-sentence report from the Probation Service.
